Reframing Problems

I love what Seth Godin said about problems in his book This is Strategy. He said, “Problems are opportunities to create the conditions for better outcomes.” I have found that in every challenge we face - a missed goal, a tough conversation, a stalled project- there is usually something valuable hiding underneath. And, when we move from “Why is this happening?” to “What can this teach us?”, the energy shifts. Blame gives way to curiosity. Frustration turns into creativity. And what once felt like a setback starts to look like a steppingstone.

It’s an open secret that progress rarely feels comfortable at first. But if we can see problems as opportunities in disguise, we stop fearing them- and start growing through them.

So maybe the next time something goes sideways, we pause and ask: What opportunity might be hiding here?

Because growth rarely shows up looking like success- it usually shows up looking like work.
